Description
A Double-crested cormorant, Phalacrocorax auritus, dries his wings in the sun after a dive in search of fish. In Minnesota, where this bird lives, cormorants are often disliked, mostly based on erroneous assumptions and lack of data. They're powerful and effective hunters, able to skim over lakes, dive underwater and swim strongly in pursuit of fish. They can reduce the populations of species of fish desired by human anglers; however, their impact has been greatly exaggerated
